Filming and Editing

Filming was mostly my thing. We use 3 cameras in total. For slow-motion shots (for titles at the end) we used Panasonic GH4 @ 96 fps 1080p. For interview we used 3 cameras Panasonic GH4, Nikon d5100 and Canon XF305. For most B shots we used Nikon D5100 and few time Canon XF305. Recording sound we used Zoom H2n and boom mic that was connected to XF305. But in the result we used only XF305 boom mic sound because it was much better. In few long shots of SU we use H2n sound recorder because it is easier and quicker to set up. Sound recorder and composer was Colin Chan.

Using D5100 I attached it on my personal tripod. During shots in SU I turn on usb portable lights for laptop which worked perfectly because I had 50mm f/1.8 wide aperture lens. So the light from few LEDs worked perfect. I loved shallow depth of field. It made romantic look that I wanted to achieve.

EDITING was a little bit difficult at the first moment. We were struggling with interview and cuts. I am not good with Adobe Premiere - this my second Adobe Premiere edit and because of my knowledge I colour corrected interview from XF305 and Nikon D5100 at first. The reason why - I thought it will be easier to do that at first and than cut everything. Otherwise we would spend too much time for applying all effects to each cut afterwards.

Later our ideas were clear and we begun to edit final sequence. Starting with titles - motion tracking and transitions using Adobe After Effects. We based our B shots on the interview. Mary cut the best parts and listening to what Sasha says we put over B shots.

We spent a lot of hours but it was worth it. Not only because of the final result, but also I learned a lot of this software. Slowly I am loving Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
