Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4
Panasonic Lumix GH4 is very well known as first DSLM 4K camera. In my opinion the result it can produce is amazing for the price and the size. I have used GH4 in this year for couple of times and I am pleased with the result. It is user friendly and once you go through whole menu step by step I was confident enough to operate it fully manual.
The thing I like a lot about Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras is their small size and weight. Because the Lumix GH4 is using a sensor that is much smaller than full frame I had issues for slow-motion videos when I set the frame rate up to 96fps filming card tricks in studio light. Camera was clearly struggling with shadows in the background. We used black backdrop to make a contrast between playing cards in front.
The GH4 in UHD mode uses an area of 14.42x8.11mm of the sensor and has a diagonal of 16.54mm.
So the GH4 in UHD mode has a crop factor of 2.616x (43.26 / 16.54). Bearing in mind these measurements it is easy to understand that there is not much of an area for light to fall on the sensor. Therefore GH4 uses electronics to control the exposure which affects an actual sensor showing noise early.
I have to pull out that the format it shoots is surprising 200 Mbps (ALL-Intra) or 100 Mbps (IPB) at 1080p. It allows to use Peaking and Zebras. the price on SLRHUT is £875.00 [18/11/2016] which is very good for 4K camera. In my opinion, GH4 is as first camera to explore 4K resolution. It is easy to use and the material it produces has ability to be edit quiet a lot, especially I filmed in v-log mode. Has ability to make colours more flat, has more information in shadows and highlight areas.
